Welcome to our new website, now being totally redesigned and updated. Most resources that you used to find on this site can now be accessed through our new family of websites, at www.barrierfreechoices.com.

This particular site will be focusing on the political, social, and legal issues concerning all Americans with disabilities and their families and friends. As such, things may tend to get a bit controversial from time to time here.

Those of you who have been visiting access-ability-usa.net since its beginning in the 90's might be a little bewildered by our new site design. And those of you visiting our site for the first time today might even be wondering what we're all about.

If this page wasn't quite where you wanted to go, try one of the LINKS at the bottom of this page.

Otherwise, read on. You'll want to bookmark this site.

We're here to achieve a greater measure of Justice, Freedom and Equality for Disabled Americans. Our objective is to level the playing field for those with disabilities. And we'll be discussing legislation you need to know about, involving Civil Rights Issues as they apply to America's disability community. We'll also be discussing a number of social programs, benefits packages, and other entitlements for which you may already be qualified and don't even know it.

If you have a disability, or if you have a close friend or family member with a disability, you probably already understand what we're talking about.

And if you're not disabled yourself, you need to understand what we're talking about, because if you live long enough you are likely to join the ranks of "America's largest minority group."

According to the folks at the U.S. Census Bureau, about 23% of the U.S. population currently have a "disability severe enough to impair their mobility" (which can seriously alter one's lifestyle).

For those over age 50, that number rises to 53%!!!

There is strength in numbers. And regardless of your disability, it's time to begin flexing your muscles. Because when you have access to the information you need to make informed life decisions, you have the ability to live a better life.

And that's what we're all about.
